Ramakrishna Sharanam

December 1, 2008

Dear Members and Friends,

Please accept my heartfelt greetings to you all.

Because November is traditionally a month of giving thanks, our members again joined the Lily Foundation in its biannual homeless feeding at the Union Gospel Church in downtown Fort Worth, where over 200 people were served a hearty meal.

On November 15th, our Center, along with about 550 neighbors, was invited to attend the Irving Neighborhood Association park picnic. City Council representatives, Code Enforcement officials, and the Irving police and fire departments were also invited. It was a worthwhile opportunity to establish rapport with the city’s officials and meet our neighbors.

As we approach the New Year, the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society is pleased to present a 2009 calendar. Now available at the Center, this beautiful calendar features original photographs of places of pilgrimage in and near Calcutta, India.

On January 1st, 2009, our Society will celebrate the New Year with its annual Kalpataru Day Celebration, co-sponsored by the DFW Hindu Temple, with visiting guest, Swami Ishtananda, Minister of the Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg, FL. The swami will conduct a special worship to Sri Ramakrishna, followed by a talk on “Ramakrishna as Kalpataru” (the Wish-fulfilling Tree). Following the January 1st celebration, Swami Ishtananda will then lead a two-day retreat at the Center on Self-Development: “Setting Goals” and “Achieving Results.” All are welcome.

We also invite you to join us in January and the first two weeks in February 2009 for a non-formal series of Sunday presentations on “Vedanta’s Tribute to Interfaith Dialog and India’s Spiritual Culture.” Please check our website for further details.

And lastly, on behalf of our Trustees, I would like to wish you all a joyous holiday season and Happy New Year!

With prayerful regards to each and every one of you,
Pravrajika Brahmaprana
Resident Minister
