Ramakrishna Sharanam

May 1, 2009

Dear Friends and Devotees,
Please accept my heartfelt greetings to you all.

On Monday, April 6, Swami Nirakarananda from the Vedanta Society of St. Louis visited the Dallas Center on his return to St. Louis from Argentina. During the swami’s brief visit, he mentioned that he had heard much about the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society’s activities and was moved by the chapel and the beauty of the Center’s expansive grounds.

On Thursday, April 9th, the Vedanta Society celebrated Hanuman Jayanti with a Ram Nam worship, devotional singing, and prasad, followed by the Thursday evening Raja Yoga Study Circle. At present, there are about a dozen participants in the Raja Yoga Study Circle.

The Vedanta Society’s Mother’s Day Food Drive is now approaching its goal of 8 - 10 cartons of food. All donations will be ceremonially offered in the Vedanta shrine on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10th, and then delivered to the “Irving Cares” Food Pantry, which serves 414 needy families a month. Food donors who wish a tax receipt may bring their canned food items directly to “Irving Cares” Food Pantry and notify the volunteers there that their donations are part of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society’s food drive.
On Sunday, April 12th, the Vedanta Society celebrated Easter with a special worship and talk on “The Secret Teachings of Christ: a Vedanta Perspective.” Many devotees attended in spite of the rainy weather.

On April 23-25, the Vedanta Society of Greater Houston held a 3-day retreat on Forgiveness, recordings of which are available at the Dallas center. The retreat was well attended.
In May, we look forward to seeing you for another month of lectures, classes, and special events.

With prayerful regards to each and every one of you,
Pravrajika Brahmaprana
Resident Minister
