Dear Friends,

On Sunday, June 13th, Swami Atmavidyananda, from the Vedanta Society of Southern California, presented members of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of North Texas with selections from his classical oratorio, “Ramakrishna and His Teachings.” The swami gave a fascinating account of what inspired his libretto and wide range of musical styles depicting the essence of Ramakrishna’s teachings and parables. The presentation was the Center’s final Sunday program before the summer recess, and was very well attended and enjoyed by all. Both Swami Atmavidyananda and Atma, who accompanied the swami, remarked on how inviting and beautifully maintained the Dallas Center is – “a real home for the Lord and his devotees.”

As part of its commitment to Vedanta’s interfaith outreach in America, the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of North Texas accepted an invitation from spiritual leaders of the renowned Snowmass InterSpiritual Conference to participate in an interfaith mentoring program from June 19-23. The program included daily reflections by Father Thomas Keating, dialog sessions with members of the SISC and guests, along with group meditations, individual presentations, and one-on-one meetings with select leaders from the world’s major religious traditions. The spiritual setting for the program was the Benedictine Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado, a rarified atmosphere which helped to elicit the spirit of intimacy, openness, and trust that was evident throughout the conference.

On Friday June 25th, Swami Kripamayananda, Minister of the Vedanta Society of Toronto, spoke at the Vedanta Center on “Befriending the Mind.” And on the following Saturday and Sunday, he conducted a Bhagavad Gita retreat on “Yoga of Action.”  The swami enjoyed his first visit to the Dallas Center, and the Dallas devotees enjoyed him! The Friday talk and weekend retreat were very well attended.
With all best wishes,
Pravrajika Brahmaprana
Resident Minister
